    The 2nd release by Mark at SC is this 1943 bust of a Chindit, needless to say the sculpting and casting are first rate with superb detail

    Below is from the Website;

    This bust represents a British Chindit on operations in Burma in 1943. The Chindits were a long range penetration group set up to harass Japanese communications and supply lines deep in enemy territory and who were supplied by air which allowed them to stay in the field for months

    The 77th Indian Infantry Brigade (Chindits) were made up from various British and Indian units and this soldier wears the cap badge of The Kings Liverpool Regiment showing that is where he originates from

    The harsh conditions endured by the Chindits took a massive toll and many soldiers returning from missions never deployed in the field again due to illness and disease

    It can be purchased here

    Started on the flesh work, off to the drier for a day now;

    Updated his flesh, added a few more lights, barok red to give him some life. Painted his dogtag with SIlver printers ink, mixed with black to start with then, touched in with just silver. Acrlyic base tones added ready for oils

    Looks good to go for the oils, will you do the shirt and hat with oils or acrylics?

    Cheers Simon

    Steve, sorry would have responded sooner but the rugby is on, half time so ok now time to grab another drink. Makes sense doing the shirt and hat in acrylics, he's looking good so far.

    Going to be good, but a couple of points:
    what is the other thing around his neck next to the dog tags.
    speaking of dog tags British ones were made of a pressed paper/card material worn on a piece of string…..not metal on a chain.
    do the ammo pouches seem to sit a little low?

    with the dog tags they used the compressed card type but these were replaced by aluminium ones with a different lanyard which were more suited to the wet jungle environment, so either could be painted Steve. Although I've always liked the red and green identity tags which stand out as being typically British ;)
