    Hello everybody!
Starting a new samurai. I want to make a series of samurai in the scale of 75 mm. I decided to show my work step by step. I hope you can help me. I will be happy to give you advice, comments, and criticism!
I will try to make the details as accurate as possible. I have long wanted to make some samurai with guns. The first will be a samurai with hand canone o-zutsu. I wanted to make two samurai with o-zutsu, but then I saw this photo from the guys who are engaged in reconstruction. I liked it very much and decided to make such a composition. The armor might be different.

The other two options are also interesting, and I will probably do them later. Only everyone in armor probably will. Historians write that hand canone was used to destroy the gates of fortresses. I don't think anyone would have come within range of the fortress without wearing armor.

Made a skeleton, 75 mm across the eyes. Up to the top of the head 78-80 mm, excluding kabuto.

Installed as in the photo. I hope it looks like it. I have prepared how everything will be approximately on a composition.

Great project! It will be an atypical figure for samurai, but a beautiful, great piece. I'm looking forward, just keep going :)

I noticed an error in the topic name. Of course, not the 17th century, but the 16th. Unfortunately, I can't change the topic name.
Slightly changed the position of the back and feet. I began to sculpt the head. This is a simple infantryman, so his face will not look elegant:)

I made a face of a samurai and started making armor. The helmet is called hineno zunari kabuto, typical of this period. The cuirass is called yokohagi-okegawa go-mai-dō. This is not the cheapest cuirass. A samurai who shoots at a fortress gate needs good armor.

Very nice sculpt, thanks for sharing the progress.
For a beginner any post like this is a real cave of hints.
Forgive the elementary question, but how do you get such neat, straight and smooth surfaces (i.e. the armor plates)?
    Thanks in advance for replying.

    Thanks!
To get a smooth surface, I use medium-sized (320) abrasive paper first, and then a smaller size (600)

    Lovely work, Vladimir!

I am enjoying the progress. And the education about this type of samurai.

I take it you are using a two part epoxy sculpting material?

    Thanks!

    Tom
