Just Asked the Owner of Warriors. It was Bill Chilstrom, so I was wrong, and you are wrong too.

I WANT THAT HALF TRACK!!! (Sorry did I shout? )

Damn that’s a cracking kit, I didn’t know it, or any of these golden oldies existed. I should have spent more time looking for kits, rather than looking at porn. At least I’d have something to show for it.

These have almost the status of garage kits, since they were made in very few numbers, and today they all sit in garages ;-)

But then the age old question arises. Do we build it and lose value, or do we sit on it as a commodity? I think at times we all have that feeling. When we look at some of the kit we have and think, I’m never going to build this, but also the thought of parting with it is outrageous.

I had the Jim Shirley halftrack, half finished, for years, then sold it. It was OK, a scaled up version of the Tamiya 1/35th kit. Definitely lacking a bit in details for a 1/16-120mm kit. At one point I had their M1A1, T-72 and the half track. A whole lot of resin! I also had the Jaguar 1/16th SdKfz 222, and realized I would never build it because I knew how valuable it was on the market, so I sold it. I figured why get it half built, realize I will never finish it, then sell it for far less than I had in it. Big plans, few results...

I never think of models as a commodity. It was meant to be built.

What I am really glad for my Resin V-100 for example is that I kept it on the waiting list to be built until I was confortable with it. And now, after some 8 years in my collection I feel confident I will make that kit justice with my skills. If I had built it 8 years ago it was never going to be as good as I will make it (for me at least) soon.

I have lots of great projects who are sitting on the pile...and I feel more excited each day to built it using the techniques I know now.

Some should sit on it until we know we can make them justice. They are premium rare projects and they deserve our Best skills.

C'mon Matthew. My memory's not that bad. In the 2 1/2 years since that post, I remembered Bill.:) One of the Cali guys actually told me a little while ago that they thought he had passed after a long illness.

Bill Chilstrom did not sculpt those figures who ever told you that hasn't a clue.....which really isn't surprising...matter of fact since both the figures are of a rather poor quality let him have the credit for them.....this is the last I care to say about it....nothing to see here move long:)

I wanted to say the Ranger was by Trevor Hensley, but I stand to be corrected.

All cleared now. Mr Saul Goodman is Darrel, the original sculptor for those figures, and finished by Bill.

Darrel, you could have been a little less rude, and actually the figures are fantastic, even passing by John Rosengrant's work, IMO.

    Now we can move on.
