Looks like it might be a rifles regt with that pouch belt or even a Rifle Volunteer unit.

Probably volunteer as you say mate

    For info

CDV= carte de visite a photograph mounted on a piece of card the size of a formal visiting card—hence the name. The format was patented by the French photographer Andre Adolphe Eugene Disdéri (1819–89) in 1854.

The only thing I find annoying with this type of beard is that you have to shave your chin every day.

I like mine the way it is - natural and growing for as long as it gets....

:ROFLMAO: Not much chance of me growing a beard any time soon. Fair hair and it takes me about a week to grow a six o'clock stubble :D

The only trouble with a long beard I have found is it's the easiest thing for my Granddaughter to grab hold of and
pull, every now and then the Barber gives it a grade 3 for me. So I alternate between grizzly Adams and not much more than stubble. It's also a mix of grey and ginger!

    Hi everyone

Waking up in the middle of the night isn’t good ....my small brain had a thought ....almost a brainwave ! ?...to replicate the diving using thin paper tape ...

Here’s the result for offering #1 ...possibly needs to be slightly wider "?

All thoughts , suggestions very welcome

I have seen paper used to create thin details before. From the LSP forum (Large Scale Plane) I learned about the use of cigarete paper to create thin patches on the airframes.
That paper is the thinnest you can find, yet very strong (I used it long ago to align my cutting tools to my workpieces in the milling machines - as soon as the cutting tool rips the (greased) paper it is for all practical purposes touching the workpiece so I can start measuring the depth of the cut acurately.

Kev each block of colour needs to be a square so a little mathematics is needed, of course if done in 1/35th doing all by eye would be easier. Cracking idea though, alternatively decal paper and a printer the paint over the decal.

I think it might be easier for you just to pencil in the dicing , it would be easier to keep it a uniform size too. I presume the band of dicing finishes in a seam at the back so you don't have to get the maths exact.
He's looking great though, great work.

Since my last post I have redone the dicing with tape ....see below ....

Possibly after painting might be too prominent?

    Appreciate your thoughts and comment

Or just go for the full Frock Coat or Cavalry Patrol Jacket, doesn't get much more elegant than that.

Sorry mate, I thought you were masking off the white bits, are you going to paint over the tape? I've always painted a solid red band for the middle set of dice then did the verticals alternating red white and filled in where they meet with Blue/Black or green. Does that make sense? All the best.

That’s a brilliant idea Kev and imo it does not look too prominent. My only concern and thought is what it’s been stuck on with…..over time with air/atmospheric moisture that they may peel?

simple way to avoid this is to cover the whole thing AFTER painting with a layer of painting on clear coat - you can mix say flat and gloss to obtain something in between where needed.
