    Hi everyone

Thought I'd share this which will become a future painting project for me .....

I purchased the excellent Scale Collectables 24th Officer ......lovely sculpt in its own right ....

...me being me had a idea to change the headwear type .......

...Mick from Micks Mick offered a head he thought might fit ....BIG THANKS to him.....

    ....the challenge was on ....

I needed to remove the original head ...carefully done with a razor saw ...success

The replacement head needed the neck reduced down ....out came the razor saw ......success

    I lengthened the facial hair

I needed to remove the badge as I wanted to do a different one

Epaulettes needed adding plus rank badges

I sculpted the badge ..bit by bit

I also replaced the pistol lanyard to one with a single cord around neck leading to 2 hanging down

This was my main reference picture ( From Reginent magazine #56 - The Royal Scots )

    Captain Logan ROYAL SCOTS
    Commissioned Lt 1/5/1878
    Captain 11/1/1887
    Major 12/8/1898
    Retired 29/10/1902

Note difference between the Guards and Royal Scots is the backing behind the RS badge is green .....thanks to Mick for clarification

Wow Kev that's ace love the details you've woven into the putty, it's going to be a great piece once painted. Watching with anticipation, oh and a cat on my shoulder just at the moment.

    Very interesting. Great work.
A question if I may please….…what’s it like carving detail away on a 3d print figure? Does it carve away easily or does it splinter/crack or otherwise break up when trying to remove detail?
    Thanks.

Thanks Malc ...thinking about adding a waxed moustache like Bobs version

    Hi Nigel

Thank you , ref question , I had no issues with splintering or cracking but would advise using a really sharp/ new blade
I did fill before adding the new lanyard , primarily because of the position , Removing the head was fine and easily achieved with a razor saw and sanding pads ( the surface sanded easily for me )

Hope this helps ...you got a project in mind ??

    Have fun @ the bench

Nothing specific Nap, but I always have an eye open for things to use as a basis for conversion and it’s good to know that printed figures should not be discounted.
Mind you, having said that I do like the look of those 1/6 scale romans printed by El Greco, but which perhaps do with a little alteration!
