I have prepared a document for anyone interested in authentic shield patterns for their Roman gladiator figures. This contains some brief background information about shields used by gladiators, how they were constructed and decorated, some comments on the nature of the surviving evidence and then an illustrated catalogue of about 80 shield patterns drawn from various Roman iconographic sources.

I have made it available on scribd:

I have never used this facility before but I believe this is readable and downloadable for everyone for free.

    Most excellent work Harry (y)

I'd be happy to host the article in the "References" section, if you would like —

If you think it's appropriate to put it there, then please, by all means do so.
Can you download it from scribd, or do you need it in some other format?

    Re: Warning!

That's very disappointing! I thought that site would have been safe since it's apparently used by thousands. I have no intention of sending people to a website that may be hacked or be virus infected. I've now pulled my document off that site. It is no longer available from that link I posted earlier. I'll find some other way of distributing it. Gordy, would it be possible to delete this entire thread? Gellso, thank you for the notification.

I know it probably doesn't help, but it worked fine for me.
