Robert the Bruce (1274-1329)

    Dear Planeteers,
this is my version of Robert the Bruce. The bust by DOLMAN Miniatures is wonderfully detailed and of excellent fit. I based the colors scheme on the well-known British stamp. I didn't want to use too bright or artficial looking colors, but rather colors available in the Middle Ages. The red, for example, is more of a reddish brown.
I think Mr. Bruce turned out quite well. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
    Happy painting everybody.

Excellent bust and a good decision with the muted and more realistic colour tones.

Wow mate that is pretty damn awesome. I painted this fella as a flat many moons ago, though the flat itself wasn't much bigger that the image on the stamp. You have nailed this, absolutely love it.

That's great work, is there a story behind the blue lion on the shield?
