I have just finished painting this excellent sculpt by Phil Walden, of an Australian soldier in New Guinea WW2. The figure is on a early morning or evening patrol wading through a river. I painted the figure with Vallejo acrylics and used Vallejo still water effect for the water.Hope you like the end result,I had fun

Looks great John this is a nice figure having seen yours and Mark's versions of it, it's most interesting to compare the two versions (y) The detail work in the arms and hands in particular is stunning

Man!!!!! That is some superb painting, I love all the details such as the veins and weathering and dirt in the fingernails. Great setting too. Fantastic

Fantastic painting, John. I also love all the details - the hair, grime and cuts on his arms, the sweat-darkened band around his slouchie.The Aussie Owen submachine gun is great on this figure too.

John, I think you done here an amazing job. The flesh tones are very realistic and the water was only missing the sound, everything is superb.

Hey Mark,thanks for the kind words.Mark dont put your own work down mate,I certainly enjoyed your version,thats the beauty of the hobby seeing different styles and approaches to a figure.When I go to model shows thats what I enjoy seeing and of course meeting other modellers.
