    Hi Guys

here goes with my attempt to paint my set of busts. Here is the progress so far. The first phot shows the right had torso painted and in place:

    CC7F3B03-1FC3-4D8F-A9F0-90E56D611A73.jpeg

In the next photo I have finished the torso of the righthand figure as well as adding his arm. The torso of the front figure is partly painted and just put temporarily in place.

I used AK paints and for the greatcoat I used a stippling technique to try in create some irregularity to represent the rough texture of the coat.

Tonight's target is to work on the front torso and his 2 arms.

    Hi Guys

thanks for all the positive comments.

today I started work in the front left arm, and the newspaper.

if you wonder how I did the news print: I din't paint it, I googled front pages from May/June 1940, cut'n'pasted some into Word, scaled them down and printed them. To save others the job, I have created a pdf of the\em and loaded it as a downloadable file under the 'usefull stuff' tab of my Sarnia Miniatures website.

    Hi Peter

    Coming along nicely

Personally I would do a variation in the uniform colours to define the individuality of each soldier

    Look forward to more updates

    Thanks guys.
Nap - I agree, I think I will lighted the rear figure and emphasis the highlights on the front figure. With hindsight I should have included some nco rank stripes to breakup the plain arms.

    Good idea

It's certainly going to be easy to add rank if modellers wanted to

Look forward to more ...work permitting !

    Hi

here is the result of this afternoons work - refined the colours of the torsos. As suggested a little green to the greatcoat, and darkened the rear figure.

Some of the feedback about the set is that it would have been nice for one of the figures to have a helmet, something I decided against when I designed and sculpted the figures. However thinking about it I have decided to include one from an earlier bust.

Since this helmet was not designed for any of these heads it is very much a bonus and fitting it to one of the heads will require some surgery removing the top of the head. i realise that chopping the top of of one of the heads may be a little daunting so as well as including the helmet I am including a second head for the front figure.

That is about the only positive thing about being a widower, no SWMBO :D Nah, truth be told my Missus was very supportive of the hobby.
