Resilience - 75mm from Scientific Models

    Hi all,

Well, after being a member here since 2018, many distractions (life and other model genres), a few false starts, and many hours of trying to "get it right" - I can finally post my first ever completed figure. Yay me :) :woot:.

Whilst still figuring out (and practicing) eyes, uniforms, and things, I thought I'd utilise my armour model skills to paint a robot. No eyes ;), no skin shading, just some weathering and filters and stuff.

Anyway, I chose the lovely "Resilience" in 75mm by Scientific Models, based off a David Diez concept art. But I like to personalise my models, so I made a couple of changes - leg positions, and instead of an umbrella, he's holding a box of scavanged soil, plus added more details to the base and changed out the flower. See the original design in the pics.

Painted in lacquers, weathered and detailed in acrylics and oils. Base from an old, weathered fence post. And I found a spot for a cameo of a skull and rat.

I thought it was OK, but to my complete shock, it got an award at Model Expo here in Australia on the weekend (our largest model competition). I only finished it the night before, so this was the soonest I could post pics.

Enough rambling, hope you like it. Open to any and all critique and comments so I can improve. I've definitely gotten the bug now, and have plenty more to get working on - robot and human.

Thanks for looking, and the tips and inspiration so far.

I rather like theses odd ball dystopian robot futures from ScientificModels, I'd love to try one... however you have done a considerable job on this one and a well deserved First place. Lovely job all round, congratulations

Really nice and eye catching, I love the whimsy in these figures. You've really done a good job on the robot body and his garden, armour modelling skills are never wasted. I couldn't possibly give any advice as you've done things I'd love to be able to do, keep on keeping on.

    Cheers Simon

That's really good, it turned out really well. Nice storytelling too, the base and the way you posed the figure really helped that. Now carry that great work on to some figures......;)
