These are a few old shots of the VL Red Lancer I have been working on for what seems like forever.

Some of you have already seen these.

I am now almost done except for the gold. I realized I should have done the gold first rather than last... :( So, I have been sweating that...

Comments and especially critiques always keenly solicted :) !

    Keith,

The skin tones in the 1st photo are really outstanding, makes him look very healthy. Were they acrylic? Looking forward to the finished product.

Really nice feel - he looks like a grizzled Napoleonic veteran of the Guard. Your flesh tones are terrific too. Colin

Thanks for the nice words on the face.

This is oils over Liquitex Deep Portrait Pink acrylics.

I did the metallics yesterday and that went better than I thought it would. I used printers ink. I'll try to get some photo's in next week/

    Thanks again guys :)

    Keith,
Wow..your transition between flesh tones is awesome...amazing really!
If I might suggest, ruddy up the lips a little more to show contrast...other than that, great progress...Can't wait to see him with the metalics applied.
This is one of my favortie Verlinden busts...

    All the best

    Patrick-

Thanks. I agree with you on the "ruddy-ing up" I want to add mars red to the lower lid and scarlett to the upper lips on my next figure.

I was really impressed with the quality and detail on this bust. Made it very easy to paint the face.

I have really mixed feelings on the VL side... I started the VL 120 mm Black Prince. Huge gaps in the torso and hands to wrist. Really took the wind out of my sails... <_<

A few more head shots with the hat filled in and the gold and silver printers ink applied.

This is my first attempt at printers ink. It has dried duller than I expected and these photos are after 3 coats of acryl gloss.

Comments and critiques are sought, pls. :)

Great job on the fleshtones. When I use printer's ink, I'll add some W&N Liquin to the mix which gives it some sheen.

Anders - Thx. Just need to shadow and highlight the gold and silver. And, put it together :)

rdclaeps - Thx for the suggestion on the liquin. I'll add a couple drops to the highlight mix.
