    Roc-

Good to have you back, my friend.

You Lancer looks nice. I especially like the stripes and shading on his pants.

Have you highlighted and shaded the braid (fouragere) yet? Seems a bit yellow-y.

Hey Keith, thanks. I'm glad to be back.

T he yellow needs a lot more highlights and a lot more shadows, waiting for it to dry, so that I might start the glazing process.

I will paint the face next, I hope to have some pictures posted by the end of the week.

    Roc,
As usual, phenomial work...I like him so far...what mix are you using for the highlights of the red? IMHO, I think red and yellow are two of the toughest colors to shade and highlight. Would love to hear how you tackle it...
    All the best

Patrick, thanks a bunch for the nice words and your encouragement,I really I appreciate it.

    Red.
a} Undercoated with Joe Sonja's Napthol red. acrylic paint.
B} mixed Cadmium red + Cadmium red deep for base color.
    c} medium shadow, Cadmium red.
    d} deep shadows, Alozzarin crimson.
    e} extreme shadows, Chrome green.
    f} medium highlight, Cadmium red.
    g} extreme highlights, Scarlet red.
h] very extreme highlights, orange sparingly.

    Yellows.
I used a different color mixture for the Lancer.

a- Base color = Cadmium yellow with a little cadmium orange added to it.
b -Medium shadows = rembrant burnt sienna.
    c -deep shadows= violet.
    d-extreme deep shadows= purple
e- medium highlights = chrome yellow with a little white added to it.
f - extreme highlights = added more white to medium highlight
h- for very extreme highlights = a touch of white where ever needed.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Roc. :)

Roc,it's good to have you back and, as always, your work is up to your usual high standards. I too am working on a Lancer although not a Red Lancer. I have never had the oprotunity to buy this figure though I wish I would have. Beautiful sculpting on this guy. It makes it easy to paint when you don't have to exagerate anything. It's all there. I'm looking forward to seeing you finish this thing. OK, enough typing, PAINT ROC! PAINT!!!!!!
