For my next diorama I have started a project that depicts a scene from the life of young George Patton when he was just a second Lieutenant under Pershing during the 1916 Puntive Expedition against Pancho Villa.

A description of the event can be found here:

I have already started on the figures of which there will be 15. The 1915 Dodge Touring car is built and the hacienda is partially assembled. I will post some pictures in the near future.

    Looking forward to it, Bob.

BTW, I recall seeing a show on the History Channel (Wild West Technology?) that covered part of Patton's adventure south of the border. It was pretty good. Did you see it?

Great idea, Bob! I just finished reading Col Frank Tompkins 1934 account of the Punitive Expedition, Chasing Villa. Fascinating account and he gives several instances of Patton's involvement. Are you doing May 14 - 15, 1916, the killing of Cardenas and Cervantes at San Miguelito?

    All the best,
    Dan

Sorry for the lousy lighting but it is pics off the workbench. The Villistas are charging out of the double wide doorway of the hacienda. Patton is firing at one, killing him. The interpreter that was sent on the mission is kneeling next to Patton. Some of the squad is running away from the horsemen and some of the others are shooting from the side of the building where one of the Dodges was parked.

Patton killed two Villistas and one horse and when asked later how he felt about his first blood in combat he said, "damn lucky!" Pershing made him a first lieutenant after this and referred to Patton as his "bandito."

    Great stuff Bob!

As always a very original story, told in a very clear and dynamic way with a great composition, and full of motion and action!

I'm already looking forward to seeing it finished!

If it is anything like your previous work it will be outstanding. I look forward to viewing it in the flesh sometime.

    Another true story in miniature.
Bob, from the first time i saw your work, i became a fan of it.
this one is no exception. Realy good work, what is visualising the history of important persons out of the USA.
And if i may say: not only the hollywood history, but real history.
