Superb paint-job as usual from Mr Cartacci but I don't like the choice of colours for the horse. It looks more like something a Plains Indian would be riding.

I think it has been done for the sake of contrast Steve as the figure is quite "Plain"

The horse might have been painted this way to suggest the less than regular nature of the Landwehr.

It 's just one of the possible variants of the mantle of the horses that used the Prussian cavalry regiments ... the equine breed, known as Knabstrup. :)
    billyturnip and Tarracus like this.

I also associate this horse with the american indian ones, perhaps is correct, but looks weird to me..That aside, Maestro Cartacci's work is always marvelous

Nice work on the lancer and the horse though I agree with the others (Steve read my mind word for word). I usually don't associate piebalds with Napoleonic cavalry... Not saying it's wrong, it just "feels" off.
That doesn't mean I don't think it's all very well sculpted and well painted... just an observation :D

@ Clrsgt: It is not a commercial figure.... unfortunately! :hungover:

Fair enough - but if you check about this breed you will learn that it was quite rare and costly. So this regular soldier is going to battle in a Porsche:D.
Lovely paintwork anyway and I understand that Mr. Cartacci might prefer more demanding paintjobs like this instead of having to do another plain colored horse.
    Cheers, Martin
