Prussian Guard Rifles/Guard Jaeger 1870

    Difficult to distinguish, during the Franco-German War the Prussian Guard Rifle Batallion (Preußisches Garde Schützen Batallion), wore green uniforms with green collars...:

    The Gardejäger (Jaeger of the Guard) however wore red ones...:

    The Shako was equal for both units...:

    Martin, these uniforms, although very similar to what would have been worn in 1870, are from a later date. probably around 1900-1910.

    The Tschako worn in 1870 would have been the M1860 which was taller and more cylindrical.
    Here is an example with a Prussian Line plate.
