A 'Tommys War' resin figure of an 'Old Contemptible'.

There are no instructions or painting guide with these kits and this is the second to suffer a poor surface finish, some air blows destroying fine detail.

I had to remove the tunic seam detail that was grossly over scale and incorrect and add a raised fine seam with Magic Sculp.

    But, a dynamic interesting subject.

There maybe some upper arm insignia, but, I'm waiting for some books to arrive on that.

    Cheers David

Always marvel at the subtly of your work David & none more so than this dramatic little figure. Is it in acrylics? Or your regular oils?

    Thanks for sharing,

The paints are oils [Windsor and Newton] over a Humbrol base. I blended a mix of Blue-black, raw umber, yellow ochre and Titanium white. I gently 'cook' the figure in the oven to blow off the oil to give a matt finish.:)

Now I'm even more impressed David! Thanks for sharing the recipe, aren't these figures resin? What temperature do you 'bake' them to avoid a souffle?

Sorry to hear of your troubles with this one, but looks like you've gotten the better of him in the end. Really nice looking result. I love this figure. (y)

Mike ,as it's resin I 'bake' at the lowest temp my oven will do which I think is ~50oC.(y)

    John,
look out for the airblows. Another annoying aspect of these figures are the deep and wide knife lines supposed to be stitched seams..............way too coarse. The moulded seam running down the jacket sleeves and back is best added on yourself. I used magic sculpt.

    Cheers David
