Also on the bench is this 54mm vignette by Fredericus Rex. From the research I have done there may be some inaccuracies in the uniform but as it is based on an illustration by David Rickman in the Osprey book on Peter the Great's infantry I'm not too worried and I'm painting it as per the illustration.

A great start Roger and after looking at the illustration it's a shame the figure doesn't come with the flag and pendants. Saying that you could always add them later.:)

    Cheers Ken

Cheers Ken, I think by the time I've painted the drum there'll be little interest in painting the flag. :D

That's a question best directed at Fredericus Rex but I did say based upon not copy of. :D

Thanks Marc, don't be surprised if the design on the drum disappears too.

    Great brush work Roger.
Nice colours Mate, the green and red is superb.
Forget the flag....can't wait to see the drum finished. Looks a little complicated to get the effect of curvature on a flat surface.
    Cheers,
    Keith

    Great work as usual Roger

I dig the subject matter. I love the uniforms of the 1700's... Great Northern War, Marlborough's armies and enemies, Seven Years War etc. They seem to be well covered in flats and demi-ronds... I just wish more sculpters covered this era in full rounds at any scale... I'd be all over them!!!

In any case, I enjoy your work... keep on keepin on;)

I feel that era is more covered than the American revolution French figures, a lot of British and American but barely any french.
Have you try Modeles et allures? ,they have few figures you may like.

    Thanks very much Colin.
Judging by your taste in uniforms you'll like what I have on the way from Germany as Christmas presents.

That's a very interesting piece. Great start with it. Was this the regiment that keept fighting inspite the rest of the russians capitulated or fled? It's indeed a interesting period, almost endless variations in uniform colors. It's a pity there's not more in 54 or 75 mm. I'm looking forward to both this piece and the 40 mm swedes.
