    Hi All,

I was just wondering why the Figure of the Year on Planet Figure has been.....shelved, forgotten, ignored?

    Maybe it could come back?

    Thanks,

    Anthony

    Gordy Stonach organized that.
Since Gordy isn't here anymore I think it died quiet.

I agree, it would be nice to see this return as there was some outstanding sculpts and painting from the previous years. So I will start it off.....

Not sure, but are the nominations for figures released during 2014 or the ones being released this year?
If its for 2014, I think Boudicca from Origin would be a contender.

    Cheers

    Sculpting Nominations.

"Russian Cossacks in Paris 1814", taken from a famous water color by
Georg Emanuel Opitz of a fish saleswoman and a cossack haggling over a price.
Sculpted by I. Kordyukov in 75 mm.

"Duel on the Kulikovo Field", also sculpted by I. Kordyukov in
    75 mm.

"Nan Lan", sculpted 1/6th scale by William Tsang.

    All the best,
    Dan

I intended to load photos of these pieces, but forgot to do so earlier. Just correcting the oversight...

Its's best to nominate 3 figures/bust/flats for each person
then the most voted figures are on.
Then we all vote for the best.
Just like in the old days.

Would it be possible for photo's to accompany the nominations? Instead of all of us having to search to see them?

Thanks Janne. I'd own that if I could paint Tartan like that! :) I'd probably own a few more figs with Tartan for that matter!
    Thanks for the pic

Actually she looks a bit young to be the rebellious Boudicca but I was thinking that minor changes would transform here into a shield maiden sweetie?

What does everyone think about splitting up the FOY nominations into (1) sculpted (unpainted) figures or scenes and (2) painted figures or scenes? Best Sculpted Figure of 2014 and Best Painted Figure of 2014?

    All the best,
    Dan

Sculpting will do. Painting is in my opinion difficult. The picture do alot good or less on the painting.

    For my 2 'Penneth worth',..

I have pretty much struggled to see how this subject could ever be 'Fair and Balanced', in the first place. ? Considering the diversity of subjects and scales! Those who like and prefer. 54mm, 75mm, 90mm, 120mm, Busts, etc. Will vote for there own favourite scale.

Then, there is the question of subject matter! and historical periods etc. Napoleonic's, Medieval, Ancient,. etc each again will choose their favourite. E.g.. 30, 'Nap' fans will outweigh the voting to a superior, 'Medieval', piece that has 10 fans! and vice-versa.

So unless each category and scale, has it own heading. ( Which would take some sorting out) I for one, cannot see the value of such a limited choice of voting!

    Ok! Finished now! :ROFLMAO::eek:

    Regards to all,

    Mark

I personally would vote for the figure regardless of whether it is my favorite scale or subject matter. I just appreciate the impressive sculpts and paint work.
