I have started painting my 2nd and 3rd figure.

My second figure is the pirate Long john silver, a 120mm figure from Verlinden.
This was one of the few figures I could find in my local hobbyshop.

The face is almost done, the hair need some more shading and higlights.

The rest of the figure are the main colors and shading and blending still has
to be done. I changed the blue of the coat because I didn't like how it came out.

I saw this figure also in a diorama of guy very beautiful painted,
I hope to achieve something nice too. :)

Thanks for looking, and all comments and critiques are welcome!!

    Marcel.

Excellent work so far Marcel. Love your fleshtones......beautiful. Painting Pirates kind of grows on you. I have several more on the shelf to paint since I painted the diorama. Please keep us posted as you progress.

The faces of the Verlinden Pirates have a lot of character.

Geweldig, wat een mooie huidskleuren Marcel.
Dit is ook een mooi figuur. Ik hou niet zo van Verlinden.
    Ga verder zo...

Thanks everybody for the nice comments.
guy: Indeed the face was a pleasure to paint because the detail and expression.

The flesh colors I used are the ones from the master himself, Jaume Ortiz.

    Hi fellow painters/sculptors,

I have finished the head and fixed it on the body, the next step is to finish the jacket.
I don't have much time to paint lately, but I hope to have some progress this week.

    Marcel.
Dit ziet er echt geweldig uit. Je hebt het karakter van de figuur erg goed benadrukt.
Hopelijk boek je wat vooruitgang met het schilderen want ik ben erg benieuwd naar je eindresultaat.

He's coming along nicely Marcel. Love the flesh tones and the other colors you have chosen. Keep on going......all good things take time. Don't rush this big fellow.

Thanks for the nice comments! Yesterday I continued with his jacket but with this size it goes much slower than with 54mm. Still have a lot to do.

    Hi,

    Some update on the Pirate.
I painted the highlights and shadows of jacket, but I'm wondering if I should add some deeper shadows.
The shadows on the pictures look always less than in real life.

    Marcel,
Dit is gewoon heel erg goed. Vanuit de foto zou je inderdaad zeggen dat je het blauw nog wat moet bijschaduwen.
Het blijft moeilijk oordelen van foto's.

Very good so far,I can only judge by the photos,so I would put some more contrast .If photos are too bright I would be a little carefull with shadows, maybe just a little.

Marc, Costas, Sébastien, Vergilius and Chris thanks for the compliments and comments.

The photos are taken with natural light. I will have a look how the shadows turn up in photos taken with artificial light. I will try a bit more shadow anyway.
