Not going so well, I have added the water bottle and haversack. I dropped the haversack and spent 15 mins looking for it then broke part of the waterbottle. Hey-ho such is life, thanks for your support I needed it just now.

Cheers David, found it and stuck.it in place, repaired the water bottle, just the strap part so fixed that with wine bottle foil. Add a bit of Magicsculpt, let that set for a while and paint. So only you and I know it got broken!. Will.post pictures soon.

It's been a trying day, dropping and losing bits and breaking others but progress was made.

I have attached the water bottle and haversack, the gaps in fit (and breakages) have been bridged with short strips of he foil from wine bottle tops and Magicsculpt. A bit of paint and a blind man on a galloping horse wouldn't notice the fix.

The back of the jacket has been painted, no major high or low tones as the backpack will cut light falling on those parts. I have painted the blue on the front of the jacket with initial low & high lights. The red decoration has just been under painted so far.

    He's getting there.

I'm liking your progress. The trousers look less stark now there is more of the figure added and painted. A touch of light weathering and I think you will be fine.

    And stop throwing things around.....;):D

You're nailing this, the colours and tones are spot on.

Cheers Nigel, it's starting to.pull together and yes some weathering will be needed. I drop things constantly at least once per session usually a lot more, often things that can be easily replaced, but not always.

Many thanks Steve, getting to.the part I dread most, putting it all together and onto the base.

Cheers Malc, rather enjoying it now though I was daunted by the size to start with, your kind comments are gratefully recieved.

Cheers for that Rob, it's all starting to come together now so all being well he won't take much longer. Have to say it hasn't taken as long as I thought it would.

Back to 54mm after this for a while anyway, this has been rather enjoyable.

Cheers Hans, I am standing ready to do some after completion repair as I always kill something when it gets round to putting everything together. I spend a lot of time looking at the floor under my desk, I swear I am getting more clumsy as I age.

Thanks for your support and faith in my modelling!

Been tinkering away with the Zouave today, slow going but he is on his scenic base and has a left arm, still looking a bit 'Sleepy Hollow' though. Got to go cook tea now so will wait till tomorrow before I do any more.

Once he has both his arms I'll assess if any colour/tonal corrections are needed before he gets the backpack and head. I am pleased with myself though, I was certain I'd lose the tassel for his hat but I still have it.

Thank you it's nice to hear, this though is the part I hate bringing all the bits together, so far so good, only 4 more bits to attach!
