Pegaso French Hussar bust

Next up on my work bench is the 200mm Pegaso French Hussar resin bust. The kit comes in 10 parts and is a straight up study of an elegant but somewhat arrogant looking hussar. Acceptable amount of prep work (cast seams and excess resin around braiding) with the only pain being the need for filing/sanding a substantial number of buttons.

I waffled on either the 1st or 3rd Hussar but finally opted for the 1st based on my wife's preference of the light grey blue of the uniform.

Progress will be somewhat slow for January due to work (courses, recruit interviews, etc) but I'm really forward to this one

    Paul

As always, thanks for the support, lads(y)

Your right Brian. I underestimated Pegaso for busts in the past but this my second (the Spartan being the first) and I have another two in my grey army. Well sculpted and nicely detailed.

Finally some progress. Although daunting, I plan to get some work done on the pelisse and dolman today (day off). Undercoated in acrylics or enamels, finished in oils.

I usually go back and strengthen the highest highlight and deepest shade the next day when the oils have 'dried'.

The face is beautifully painted Paul, that's how I see my paintwork in my head. Unfortunately, something gets lost in translation by the time the paint gets on the model :(

Another winner Paul... will you be bringing it on Sunday?

LOL Billy you couldn't have said it better. I feel like that every time I plunk my butt down at the bench... My mind's eye says "Wait, that doesn't look like what I showed you earlier"

Thanks Guys. I'm really enjoying this 'bust phase' I'm in.

I've been fortunate to make friends with some great talented guys in this hobby. Their advice over the years has been invaluable. One of the simplest pearls of wisdom was from Doug Cohen...."do something everyday, even if its only for 15 minutes". As an oil painter, painting isn't always practical but on those days, I try and prep/clean up a figure (I now have a lot ready for paint:rolleyes:)
