Hi all,
I have been working on these two Carl Reid sculpts for a client. They are both beautifully sculpted and are a pleasure to paint. I am having to really work the paint on the Drakos bust as the casting isnt all the best, a bit rough, but the Priest is almost painting itself !!!!. All is done in oils so far and still a bit shiny
Thanks for looking
Ben

These look great. Are they specific portraits or just inspired by paintings etc.? (a bit of a silly question, but I was just curious).

Cheers,
Elia

Hi Elia,
I found this portrait which is of the Georgios Drakos figure which I am pretty sure was the inspiration for the sculpt, but have found no such thing for the Priest figure. And no, its not a silly question at all. Thanks for looking

Anyway I hope you won't have the same problems that i did while painting it. There were some quite rough zones because of the casting that made the paint work very difficult.

Gerard
Yeah Gerard, the difference between the castings on each kit is massive. The Priest bust is superb and super smooth and a pleasure to paint whereas the Drakos kit is very rough and have had to work it to get the same results, taking me twice as long to get the finish I want.
