bloodhound.jpg Hi all. I'm painting the bloodhound dog from the Castle Miniatures British Surgeon kit and am wondering how to get the goldish brown colour I need for his coat. I usually paint with an acrylic base coat and use oils over top. I've base coated him in flat black if that helps. I'm thinking of airbrushing Tamiya "Buff" XF-57, but am not sure what to put on top of that.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Gary

FWIW Vallejo Model Colors has a Yellow Ochre shade (913) looks like it'll come close to what you need.

    Ok I'll try and help.
    Tamiya buff is fine.
For the oils I would mix the following.
For the base mix, Titanium white then add small amounts of yellow ochre and burnt umber.
Shade add a touch more burnt umber to the base mix.
Highlights add a touch more white to the base mixture.

Looking at the picture it seems touches(very tiny) of mars orange have been added after the basic highlight and shading stage.
Hope this is of some help.
    All the best.
    Ralph.
