Painting has finally started on the Ernest Hemingway vignette. Also threw in a pic of the finished ( and frustratingly strung ;) ) deep sea fishing rod. Face and collar are done, as is the 1928 Thompson gun; shading is started on the shirt. The 'groundwork' for Papa has it's basecoat on the cushions and the staining begun on the decking. Let me know what you think guys.
    Cheers, Stephen

    Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Yeah Gordy, lots of colors on this one. I'm having to guess at the color of the seats and cushions as there's only one color picture taken of him in the boat and it's after he made changes to the Pilar to modify it from the way he got it in the 30's.

Jazz, Tony, I really appreciate the kind words. Here's a bit of progress. Added some subtle sunburn effects to Papa and got to painting the fighting chair with oils and some acrylic glazes to begin the look of a varnished but well-worn wooden item. More soon. Cheers guys, Stephen

A quick update. Started highlighting and shading the arms and legs last night. Still a WIP so there's plenty that is just blocked in and not smoothed out. Finally starting to look like something :) Cheers, Stephen

Thanks bro...I have to say I am pleased with how the likeness to Hemingway turned out. Roger Saunders just so happened to sculpt the perfect bare head for this one as well.....just had to add a beard.

Many thanks my friend. Now I gotta figure out a way to incorporate a sock monkey into this vignette ;)

Here's the chair with the Nor-Fin rod and Pflueger reel in place and painted. The primed part at the bottom will get painted, that's where it was chucked in my pin vice for painting. Just gotta finish the figure now and compete weathering of the base. More soon. Cheers, Stephen
