The best resource I've seen on the matter is Danilo Cartacci's book: Painting Miniatures

Take a look at this and this review here at PF.

I also have the Cartacci, book which is very good! ... Although if just starting out, the old Verlinden book, The System', is where a number of painters first cut there teeth with oils and face painting.

    I did!

Tecumsea, I appreciate your referring to the tutorials.(y) They look great! I find tutorials the most helpful in my hobby experience! Will give them a try as I am working to paint a bust. I have been inactive over the past couple years, but hope to get back into the hobby again in the days to come.

    Appreciate your help!

Shep was my main inspiration along with francois verlinden in the early 80s and the late Bob Knee as well, they are the books I learnt to paint with oils from and I still refer back to them today.
