Excellent Gordy, been looking forward to this one. I've tried several methods, and tried a variation on this one a while back. Your version is simpler and more user friendly. It seems I have a tendency to over complicate things.

Thanks Gordy! That method is MUCH more simpler than how I do (did) buckles.

Same here John, I also tend to over complicate some projects.

    'Painless'? Who needs 'painless'?

We're a bunch of masochists out here, Gordy!

    Neat trick, though.

Do you find it necessary to add a drop of CA to keep the buckle from lifting off while working. This is a problem I've had in the past, the putty likes to stick to the tools better than the piece.

i never have, and since i generally work milliput on milliput adhesion is never much of a problem, also i avoid using any oil based (vaseline) in my mix or on my tools for that very reason (ruins adhesion)

Gordy, That did not hurt a bit. Great article! A simple technique that makes something difficult not such a headache. Thanks.~Gary
