I feel I should properly introduce myself. I am retired US military (Russian interpreter/arms control inspector). I am also a retired history/writing teacher (2nd career). I live in Japan with my wife (she's Japanese so I have a green card). I am primarily interested in Aurora figure kits and 1/9 or 1/10 busts.
At 64, my eyes are not what they used be, so I struggle mightily with the busts. I can't seem to find a magnification setup that works for me. Moreover, I am still learning to use Vallejo paints, as opposed to Tamiya/Mr. Hobby. Big difference. Anyway, as soon as I get the technology worked out, I will append a few photos of my work in the past year. Thanks for the add.

    BIG WELCOME to PF

Great to have you with us

Ask anything and someone will know for sure

Lots of visual assists like Optivisor but there are many cheaper and equally as effective

    Happy benchtime

Welcome to the site, have you tried off the shelf reading glasses, I use a 3.5 magnification for figure work and they work great for me. I did buy one of those Opti visors that go onto your head but just could not get used to it.

    Welcome.
I know how you feel about failing eyesight
The waist line & figures/busts seem to be the only things that get bigger as you get older.

Welcome to the Planet! I look forward to seeing your work.

I use an Optivisor, myself. I need to have the magnification right in front of my eyes, like glasses.

    Prost!
