Detail of Highlander #1's knapsack. the flap was made by rolling out a small snake of putty and smoothing it into the top half of the knapsack. I then trim the bottom of the flap to follow the contour of the bag.

The buckles for both figure's shoes have also been done.

There are mostly small details that remain to be done on both figures. With the exception of Highlander #1's jacket the major work is almost done. I'm happy with the project and "speed" (fast for me anyway) at which the project is progressing. I must be at the tailend as I'm getting ideas for the next piece which is most likely gonna be "revolutionary", at least in terms of the subject.~Gary

    Gary,

Great job! I really like how the haversack on #2 looks like it has stuff in it. Great job! (y)

They look wonderful Gary! The "lumps" in the knapsacks is an awesome touch.

Pete, Seriously, I want to get a little further along on my 120mm "ramrod" vignette before comitting myself to another project. I'm considering a few Revolutionary War figures designed for possible commercial release. A bit more later.~Gary

Thought I'd post a few more photos. The piece is finally almost done. Thought the figures may not look much different from the last pics this is all that remains before they're shipped off to Joe Hudson for a super paintjob.

    need to complete

Buttons, almost too many to count
A number of 54mm fingers. Hands in this scale are not fun to do.
Bayonet & scabbards. I hope to use resin copies for these.

After this I need to regroup my thoughts as to what's next, I have a few ideas that will include at least one bust,. more later on that.

Oh yeah, I have to clean up a couple of musket castings also. Here's the piece from another angle.

    Hey Gary,

They are really looking super! I like the ponytails, they look so real and not just a blob of putty. I look forward to seeing more these and hopefully I can do these little gems justice!

Joe, Thanks. I can't wait to get them done. My tail almost always drags at the end of most projects. Once done it will be nice to go through the usual ritual of cleaning the bench (part of it anyway) of references, work materials.~Gary

Guys, Thanks, I really appreciate all the kind words about this piece. I'm ready to finish it off and know that Joe is just itching to paint it. I would like to do a commercial piece or two, time and enthusiasm will tell. I'm also toying around with the idea off doing some non military/historical pieces that won't tie me down to references as I'd really like to put even more focus on the sculpting aspect of things.~Gary
