Just completed another Young bust,(i'm getting addicted to these busts )i'll need to do something different next time.

This latest work is based on a U-Boat crewman on watch in the north atlantic, the bust is very nicely cast as is the norm with Young's busts and the detail very crisp.

The bust portrays the crewman wearing the traditional Bordmutze with the u-boat emblem on the left side,in this case its the emblem of the 9U-Flotille.
The clothing is of usual u-boat issue at this time of the war with the Leather reefer jacket for on deck personnel, this was a warm and popular garment among the crew, insignia was sometimes worn on the garments and i decided to add one to mine which is the circular patch depicting crewman.
The life preserver is not of any paticular type or brand as several different types wer'e issued throughout the war to different crews.

A nice straightforward bust with minimum amount of colours and a good bust to paint with anyone starting out in the hobby.

Painting was completed using oils applied over acrylic base colours.

Hope you enjoy the bust and coments and critisism are always welcome.

    Happy Painting,Brian :)
