    Finally done!.
As usual, struggled with the pics a little,so i took 2 sets with different lighting.
    The mixes as follow:
Face and hands : Vallejo panzer Aces flesh palette
    Coat :
Base colors : Vallejo pale sand, english uniform and japanese uniform, dab of black.
Lights, base plus pale sand, last lights pure white.
Shadows; base plus japanese uniform and last shadow used a little bit of black
    Crimson Facings :
Base : Vallejo wargame color Gory red, andrea Crimson and a dab of Violet.
lights added basic red and last lights added flat orange'
shadows; base plus violet ,added some black for last shadows and outlining>
    Buttonds,gorget and busby plate :
Base ; Testors Gold enamel, few washes of vallejo sepia and outlined details in sepia ink.
    Vest and pants :
    Base ; Vallejo silver white
    lights ; base plus white
shadows ; base plus german grey
    Grenadier fur cap :
Base ; burnt umber plus a dab of german camo black/brown.
    Lights base plus flat yellow
    Few washes of brown glaze

during the painting of lapels and facings i struggle a little bit with the Crimson.
I always try to look for the "right color" and i know that the hue of the color is in the eye of the beholder.
Pretty much " Crimson" to me i will describe in plain words as a deep red shade of red that when under the light you will see a " pinkish red tone" , very close to the Polish Lancers of the Napoleonic period.
This is the second of the four "squares" with the regiments, i have completed two more figures from the gatinais regiment ,i will add more figures on this diorama square for the Soissonois and Saintoge Regiment , they were almost right next to each other when they took positions at the Battle of Yorktown.
    I hope you guys like.

Both of these guys look brilliant Daniel. I think the reds turned out quite nice, and as with the others you've done, the greys and whites on these guys look lovely.

As usual, outstanding workmanship(y). The red is dead on and the coatee colour is perfect. Each fig in your series is better than the one before.
On the edge for the next one.

BTW, thanks for the recipe list... they are going right in my book:sneaky:

Very nice work on these two.

    thank you Dave!.
the real challenge on this type of uniforms with different garments in "white" is to make each piece slightly different form the other.
I always try to make the white coat a different hue,the vest and pants the same and gaiters a different tone of white.
    Thanks for your kind words.

    Hello Eduardo,
as we discussed before, some sources agree on the piping of the collar ,i decided to go for the piping since i used the Men at Arms book " the french in the american war of independence" illustrations, which i think you told me you have.
But again, there is a lot of descripances between authors and sources of info.

Look at the illustration, the grenadier is of the burbonnois regiment, crimson facings which shows the piping on the collar.

I'm sure that's a sentiment we all share Daniel. I think you have a right to be happier with each one completed. (y)

Excellently done, Daniel! Nicely done on the shading and relief. I love the insouciant tilt of the officer's cap, too ;)
I must have missed this, but what is the origin of the figures, that is, are they commerically available kit figures or did you sculpt them, too?

  18. MarquisMini A Fixture

    The original body

I wish i was able to sculpt them!.
The actual body or torso if you may is from Modeles et Allures ,it is supossed to be 54mm but really it is a 60mm.
The actual uniform is from the 1767 Regulation uniform, without standing collar, wide turnbacks and large uniform side pockets with buttons all around.
So i did modify those items.
The head and hands are from JMD models, beautifully sculpted and detailed that i will recommend to anyone.
If you buy the heads it will bring various hands too, there is a set of heads 1 and set of heads 2 ,they are 65mm but i think it fit well on this figures.
The legs are from vid soldiers, former castings from Miniwelt.
The muskets are also from Vid soldiers in Poland.
Any other info you need i'll be more than happy to help.

Thanks John , i feel that there is a lot of room for improvement but i am happy with my whites.
I will probably try some other mixes next time .
    Best regards
