In 1812, 2 cavalry regiments were formed in the St. Petersburg:
1st cavalry "Immortal" regiment: on the fur hat they wore the emblem "Adam's Head", the uniform was black, the trim was light blue, the cords of the officers were silver.

2nd cavalry "Alexandrian" regiment: the militia cross and the letters of the emperor "A1" were worn on the fur hat, the uniform was dark blue, the trim was crimson, the cords of the officers were black.

    Not only that!

Black uniforms were - at the latest after the actions of the Schill'schen Hussars - almost a "fashion" with voluntary associations like the Braunschweig, the Lützowern, the Bremen cavalry of the "Hanseatic Legion" and others - and also with the Russian Opolschenije militias!

One looked a little at the other.

So the Prussian Landwehr took over the peaked cap with the cross symbol from the Russian Opolschenije ...
