    Lovely figure. I know nothing about Polish Hussars; is there some historical significance with turkeys or their feathers..?

    The turkey in this composition is just an allegory. The sculptor wanted to say that this particular hussar and this particular turkey are similar to each other.

    Ahhh ok. I wasn't aware if the feathers they used for the hussar 'wings' were taken from the bird.

    Supposedly Eagle feathers, but I suspect even back then there weren't that many eagles to supply them, so no doubt others were used.

    I assumed it was a metaphor referencing the Siege of Vienna.
    Great little scene, the sculpting of the turkey at this scale looks outstanding.

    I agree with the idea of a metaphor but nowadays look on google image for Polish species like
