I commented on this when Carl sculpted it and been keenly waiting for some time for its release. Its a fantastic figure and captured the movement wonderfully.

Finally! It's on my list to buy!
I just have a doubt regarding the uniform. The jacket it's in red or in beige?
I'm not very familiar with the victorian age.

In 1880 the 92nd were in Afghanistan wearing the Khaki dyed tunic, in 1881 they travelled to South Africa and took part in the Battle of Majuba Hill. They were still wearing the khaki tunic from 1880 at that battle. The figure is correct for both.

I think its styled on the battle of Kandahar in 1880 as the Gordon's attacked up a hill, but I think could be taken as both important battles.

Osprey have a book 'The Boer Wars (1)' which references the uniform.

Thank You very much for the information!
I really wanted the jacket to be kahki, it's more unusual to see one of these.

Pedro, here another exemple for a khaki uniform. By a painting of a Dutch painter Hermanus Koekkoek:

Chaps please only use the reference for the battle of Kandhar for this Figure. It is correct for the newly amalgamtef Regt.

The other illustrations are firstly of the 42nd Black Watch in Egypt at Tel el Kebir when new uniforms and equipment where issued and all highland regiments except 2/72nd wore red tunics. The 1879 Zulu campaign again is incorrect.

I would say that looking at the cuff detail on the figure that the tunic is more likely to be the red one - the khaki one has plain cuffs.

Maybe Carl Reid, the sculptor, can help with this doubt, because most certainly he knows what he wanted to represent.

    Sorry that post was incomplete.
At Tel el kebir the Highlanders swarmed Over the sand berm or Tel so they fought uphillhere is no point using the references for the 42nd Black watch or the zulu wars they are simply irrelevant.

The uniform worn in the Battle of Kandahar is the one in the Dutch painting. The red jacket worn in Winter is shown here in the second picture

Enjoy the figure it is a cracker Battle%20of%20Kandaha%201880%20William%20S%20Keoch%20Cumming.jpg Battle%20of%20Kandaha%201880%20William%20S%20Keoch%20Cumming.jpg 92nd%20Gordons%20Kandaha%20Winter%201880.jpg

That Dutch painting has 1888 Slade Wallace pouches and breast pockets on the frock, so more Boer war.

By the way if you're looking to for something different, you could remove the cuff detail and paint him in the grey that was worn for the Sudan campaign.

    Hi Guys,

He's wearing the red tunic with white facings.
It was based on this beauty by Bill Horan.

End of discussion. Personally I would like to paint it khaki, but if it is red, red it goes!
    Thank you Mr Carl Reid!
