Well once again it's been a while since there's been any activity from The Lost Battalion on these pages. It's been a tough hall, but there is a new release to announce. From the talented hands of Stephan Malia the Battalion is releasing a 75mm China Horse Marine in dress uniform circa 1934-37. Glorified by Jon Thomason in his books and artwork these men were truly the last of a breed.

Kit is composed of all resin parts and includes two heads the fur hat depicted in the box art and a second head with the white dress hat. Kit includes base and scenic background. Price is $39.95 and is available on the Battalion website at TLBminiatures.com

    Hope you like it! FB_IMG_1660551473873.jpg

This looks a fine tribute to the mounted section. Excellent sculpt.

The boys' full name was ""Mounted Detachment, Marine Guard American Legation, Peiping (not Beijing!), China"...:

So it was the mounted part of the US Marines protecting the US Mandate and Legation in China, a service traditionally performed by members of the US Marine Corps.

The figure is by no means a caricature, this somewhat broad-assed standing is just as authentic as the oversized saber, a so-called "Patton sabre".

    Here's more about this unit...:
