    Dear friends,

We have just finished a new custom-made miniature, Portrait of Madame X, inspired by the eponymous painting by John Singer Sargent. The portrait of one of Paris's conspicuous beauties, Virginie Amelie Avegno Gautreau, provoked a firestorm of outrange and was regarded as scandalous because the woman's suggestively coquettish pose, revealing costume and makeup. The painting's controversial reception at theParis Salon of 1884 amounted to a temporary set-back to Sargent while in France, though it may have helped him later establish a successful career in Britain and America.

    Scale: 90mm (1/20).
    Made of white metal.
Made from scratch by Attica Miniatures.
    Sculpted by Mihail Polskiy.
    Painted by Elena Aksenova.
Available for sale painted on order: https://attica.su/shop/2384/desc/museum-portrait-de-madame-x

This is a real beauty! Until recently I had been unaware of the painting by Singer, but not that long ago it was presented on my "DailyArt" app (highly recommended, by the way) and discussed in some detail. I was taken a lot by the painting and its background and now Attica does it in 3D. It's brillant!! Idea, concept, modelling and brushwork: first class.

    Cheers

...oh, and I just realised - after reading the article on the painting again - that Attica have done their research really well, by presenting the model just the way Singer Sargent had originally painted it, before the shitstorm forced him to redo his work.

Yes, I'd love to see this as a kit too.

I would like to see this as a kit also.
The painter has done a wonderful job on the model but could probably have gone even further to represent the arsenic whitened skin of the girl in the painting.

Great to see something from Attica

Very classy sculpt and very risky for the time it was painted by the actual artist

This piece offers much in the way of painting , I like the artwork by Elena but equally agree with Rob about painting more to the actual artists interpretation

Definitely would make a nice release as well

    Thanks for sharing

    Happy releasing

Dear friends, thank you so much for your kind words about our team work and for the warm reception!

We have decided to cast and sell a limited number of kits, if we get at least 10 enquiries. Please contact us at info@attica.su if you are interested. Please keep in mind that we will provide the kit in an unbranded box as we don't plan to invest in branded packaging for now.

Enquiry sent. How reliable is shipping from Russia into EU these days?

I can only tell for Switzerland. The last packages I received did not take much longer than "before".

I have ordered one of these beauties...

    Cheers,

To add briefly to Rob’s and Nap’s comments: among other things Madame Gautreau used powdered lavender to create the skin tones that Sargent wanted.

The original painting is 7’ or 8’ tall and quite astonishing. If your travels ever take you to New York it’s worth seeing—it’s at The Met.

We ship to EU and USA every week, it takes longer than before, but all the parcels are being delivered. On average, it takes about 4 weeks for a parcel to arrive into EU. Sometimes this happens faster, sometimes there are delays because of the customs' work or limitation of flights from Russia.

Guess what arrived at my doorstep 15 minutes ago?
Some positive news coming out of Russia, namely this one:
    2023 - 1.jpg 2023 - 2.jpg
    sturdy box ... ... well padded ...

    2023 - 5.jpg 2023 - 4.jpg 2023 - 7.jpg

    2023 - 3.jpg

Verdict after a first quick look: she's really well cast, hardly any cast lines, good dry fit.
    (Sorry for the rubbish photos...)

Thanks again to Attica Miniatures for making Madame X available to us modellers and for the great communication throughout the purchasing process, and, of course for the really fast delivery of this wonderful little gem.

If my annual turnout of miniatures ever increases from currently nil to a number higher than this (and my painting abilities get a serious boost), she'll pop up again on my workbench - otherwise my heirs will have yet another lump of metal to get rid of.

Yes it's a beautifully sculpted piece- a real gem. I also can't imagine a more
testing one to paint - black silk and 'alabaster' skin. A toughie if ever there
    was. What a challenge !!
