This is a new release in which I painted the boxart for. It is a continuation of a series of historical busts by Minuteman Models. Her name is Natalya Meklin Soviet Fighter ace and member of the famed Night Witch Squadron during WW2. She is as always painted in Vallejo acrylics with the exception of Citadel for the metallics.

    Hi! Dan.
    Amazing work as usual.
    I'm loving your fresh tone.
It's beautiful and is smooth painting.
The decoration details are also very wonderful.
I think a masterpiece suitable for box art.
    I congratulate completion.

That color photo is actually a younger photo of her during the war.

Look at this older photo on the left in B/W and see what the strains of war can do to anyone specially a young woman. There is only a 3 year difference from the colorized photo "1942" to the B/W photo from "1945".

The bust is based on this 1945 B/W photo on the left. As you can see the bust captures this B/W photo a lot better. She looks more like the bust with black hair. On the earlier photo on right from 1942 (the colorized sample Dan was sent to use as reference) her hair was bleached a dark brown.

Also, please notice that in the younger photo her face was fuller/cheeks. She was a little heavier than in the later B/W photo

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers all, and thanks.
