    Hi Rob,
I have this book but it is in my painting room at the end of a long snow covered garden.
I am sure it does and I think he uses oils. If no one else replies I will brave the elements and give you a definitive answer tomorrow.

    Cheers

    Hi Rob,
    Just opened my copy.
Chapter Four, pages 78 to 106 covers 'Painting'.
Bill's preference is oils, and he lists lists his two personal favourite as the Winsor & Newton and Liquitex lines.
    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

P.S. The Chapters are as follows:-

    Introduction: The Historex Story
    Chapter One: The Figure Line
Chapter Two: Assembly, Detailing & Enhancement
    Chapter Three: Converting
    Chapter Four: Painting
    Chapter Five: Groundwork & Display
    Chapter Six: Non-Napoleonic Conversions

This is a great book but it's not a painting book. It's more about building, converting and animating Historex figures. Like Andrew says, there is a chapter on painting but it's not very helpful IMO. There are no in progress pictures, just descriptions of how to paint using oils and the colour mixes used. So if you want an inspirational book on converting Historex figures with a focus on Napoleonics, this is it. If you want something to help with painting, this is going to be of limited value IMO, especially if you don't use oils.

If you want pure Napoleonic figure modelling porn, this is definitely the book for you, there are lots of photos of amazing figures.
