Other than holidays where my wife and I eat dinner at the table; I usually sit on the couch to eat dinner while watching TV. The thing that's starting to chap me up is my dog always nuzzles up next to me while I'm eating until I'm finished and I let her lick the plate; and then leaves like I just farted.
Any advice?

Lick the plate yourself then fart in her face.

You are not alone. We tend to eat at the table but there is always a little hairy dishwasher under my chair! And yes, he can fart with the best of 'em!!

Mine can fart with the best of 'em too, but the main threat comes from her breath!

i have one that sits under my chair when at the table,if on the sofa the other one sits facing away from me but putting constant pressure on my as if I'd forget she was there!!
