I saw the original cuirass during my recent visit in Fontainebleau and is really superb...
the uniform wore under the cuirass is well represented from the below portrait

i get some closer picture of this portrait last year... absolutely superb

Your rendition of the Garde du Corps helmet for Jerome will be interesting. But as to Davout's saddle fringe, you mentioned it was .023 mm lead wire. Do you know what 'gauge' that is?

Jerome is one of the most interesting characters in the Bonaparte family.
Despite some polemics, it seems that he was a very good king for the Netherlands. His policy for this country made him lose his throne!

My dear Zastrow, Louis was King of Holland (and beloved by some of his people). Jerome was Roi de Westphale and by most accounts was somewhat a fop. The uniforms of his troops were true cool.

Ivo, great progress! What 'gauge' is the lead wire for the fringe? And how did you do the details on the helmet? Magnificent.

after the beginning of the new year and the consequently food orgies is time to show the progress of Jerome ..

comparing to many documents I choose to paint the guy with the regimental colors. Saddle is blue instead of the crimson saddle used as Prince Imperial.

The sash of the westfalian medal is not a light blue as is normally represented but in a medium dark blue as in the portrait published some day ago, I choose to represent the sash above the cuirass and not below to give some touch of colors

Marvellous work, as always, Ivo. Certainly the sash would have been more comfortable over the cuirass rather than under it ! Looks OK to me:happy:(y)
