I'm in a moment where I prefer to built instead to paint...

I just started a new project probably not for my brush ... obviously I start with the horse

    DSC_0029.JPG
the horse is assembled using Eisembach parts... here the point os how I make the saddle that will have a sheepskin with wolf teeth
wolf teeth are made cutting a piece of lead sheet. positined and lately covered with putty to create the sheepskin. The frontal part comes from Metala modeles hussad kit.
saddle cloth is a piece of copper cutted in the right shape
Horse head was mounted on an historex neck and comes again from MM parts

    Hi Ivo,

Excellent work! I bought Tradition magazine No3 and have one of your articles in it.

The Eisenbach horse parts look very good. Do you know of any on-line suppliers for these?

you found a quite old article... is Tradition or Figurines? was the article on De Beauharnais?

related to Eisembach you can order directly to him http://www.eisenbachfigurines.fr/ . Fabrice is an artisan and doesn't have any distribution

some update of the carabinier flag bearer

the man didn't ask anything special in his assembly. only the right arm comes from a different kit ( hussar flag bearer) and has been adapted making the cloves and adding the shoulder

    DSC_0006.JPG DSC_0005.JPG

to avoid trouble during the painting process I divided the flag pole. the lower part is assembled to the figure and the upper has a pin that enters into the hollow rod.
for my point of view in this case the pin needs to be as long as possible.
the flag was originally an hussar flag and comes from MM kit. Is photo etched bot side on a single layer. I cancelled the word hussar... the painter has to write carabinier ...

we are close to the final assembly.... next post

back to Davout...after some days i checked the figure and decided to re sculpt the right arm. Cutted the old and resculpted it and obviously I needed to resculpt also the cords
    davout col gen grenadier (16).JPG

I then started to paint the horse. I want a very dark horse, close to black. A black primer then oils.
    The palette is formed with
    Ivory black
    Ultramarin violet
Burnt umber for the basic mix
to highlight I used naples yellow reddish, Zinc white
Venetian red is used for the lower reddish part

ok... is another project in progress on my desk...

she is Catherine of Wurttemberg wife of Jerome Bonaparte from the baron Gros portrait

she ride in a woman style, in that era was indecent for a woman to ride as a man

Fréderique-Catherine de Wurtemberg, reine de Westphalie (1782-1835),.jpg

was a sculpting job, less conversion and more sculpture. I did the sculpture twice by completely changing the skirt.

How do you made the "silver things" on the saddle cloth?? Thickness of the wire etc.
