    hi friends

I would start here a thread that in my intention will cover all my modelling year. Instead of different posts this one will cover both sculpting and painting process of my incoming subjects.

Hope that you like the idea

let's go with the first subject....

it will be a portrait of Louis Nicolas Davout as colonel general of the Grenadiers

as usual I start with the historical reference. There are a good drawing by Rigo that shows the figure in all the details

    davout1.jpg davout2.jpg

the figure is made using as usual Metal Modeles parts.
Head come the recent Figurinitaly kit FI05 that's probably the best portrait in scale of the marshal

soon the pictures... I'm having trouble to charge them... sorry

ok ... I needed to reset the camera to be able to charge the pictures... mysterious problems

here some pics of close to be finished assembled Davout. unfortunately older steps cannot be visible but the figure is quite easy to be understand.
Horse is from recent Napoleon mounted with a front leg changed. The man comes from Letort with some butchery activities... torso rotated , new arms.

I bought the copper sheet in an art shop. is normally used to be carved . It's very soft and with patience you can cut it with a sharp knife
