    Greetings all,

Here we go with a little update.

I only have but this one book for reference. 20170601_104937 (360x640).jpg

I've learned that there are different coats / jackets and of course that horizon blue varies greatly. There are also many variations of collar tabs.

I'll continue on the next post.

    Here we go....

....and there is this Poilu proudly wearing his Croix de Guerre. Notice that the dark blue finish on the buttons is largely worn off.

    20170601_104619 (360x640).jpg

For inspiration I'll occasionally gander at this lovely print....

    20170601_103931 (360x640).jpg

....some guy asked me for a favor and he gave me this print. How cool is that!

Of course for reference there is the internet, where I found this neat pic of a reenactor.

    00014c52_medium.jpg

Anyway, for the horizon blue I used the following paints:
Jo Sonja French Blue as the base color
For the darks, Andrea 1st and 2d shadow from their blue set.
To highlight I used Union Blue and Navy Grey also from Andrea.

Here is where I'm currently at with our Poilu.

Having a think about the pouches might do one in a cloth to add variety to the leather set

Here we go with another little update.

I worked on the pack and gear. Some more details and maybe some changes before its finished.

    20170605_190617 (360x640).jpg

Picking out those hobnails on the boots was pretty tedious. I'm glad that part is over:hungover:!

I finished the helmet and epoxied it to the head. To get a sheen on it I gave it a couple of coats of some watered down Future. I've decided to do the Croix de Guerre as the best for last :).
