A bust from Pegaso Models, roman gladiator Murmillo, don't know what scale, Dealer's website says 200 mm, but I think it's a bit smaller. Anyhow, it's a very nice bust. Challenge was to paint much of skin tones and the aggressive expression in his face.
Had lots of joy painting this bust. One of my favourites. The face on the base is an amateurish try to sculpt a face, but I had in mind the sculptures you sometimes find on fountains. for that I think it is good enough.

Good work Robert. I also like the base with the brickwork and face - novel!

    Hi Robert

Very nice presentation and painting on a well sculpted bust

A lot of flesh-work which looks good as does the metallics

Where did the idea for the base come from...a fresco perhaps ?

Always good to see your modelling

Why not enter a piece into the class of your choice in the new FOTM

There's also the Vignette & Diorama comp we are running

    Thanks for sharing

    Look forward to the next

    Happy benchtime

Thank You all, very much appreciate it.

The idea for the base came from a fountain I had seen wether in a film or somewhere in the www, can not remember where. I had the failed sculpted face in my scratchbox and the socket was also made from scratch.
I thought it would fit well with the angry looking gladiator. Well, it does I guess.
While in most cases a simple wooden base is okay for many busts, sometimes I try to built bases that correspond with the bust.
