After I had seen the beautiful scene from Zane with the Rus viking from Frank Miniatures and because I was searching some figures for my vacation painting, I start last week with the groundwork for that figure. In my grey army I had on old resin tree from norseman miniatures. I add some real branches and paint the tree. At the moment I try to finish the groundwork.

Zane: Beg your pardon that I had make a "copy" from your scene, but I will use only the tree as you

Nice work Ulrich, I like what you have done, are your leaves natura lfrom the silver birch tree, they seem to be a good scale for 75mm. I will look forward to following this.

    regards Zane
PS I don't mind youalso using the tree.

    Thanks for the comments.

Marc: I use parts of tree roots for the branches and fix them with apoxie sculpt. Then I had brushed the resin parts and the bottom grey. For the "stones" I drybrushed the things with different brown, black, grey and white colours. BTW I only use oil colours. For the tree I first use washes with burnt umbra, white and naples yellow deep until the grey was nearly covered. Then it was a mix with grey, burned umbra and a little bit green using washes and drybrushing. The lighter parts got a washing with burnt umbra with white and burnt siena and then a drybushing with white. It is difficult to explain, but I only use white, black, burnt umbra, a very little bit burnt siena and green and naples yellow deep over a lightgrey base.

Zane: Thanks, yes the leaves are seed from the silver birch tree

Must correct me: Not the seed but the parts you can get after you have devided them from the seed

Looking good Ulrich, the tree balances the animation of the horse and rider perfectly.
