In between painting for several collectors I squeeze in a figure for myself now and then. I choose one of my favorites and 3rd time painting this figure, a 70mm Elite Limited Edition sculpted by Julian Hullis.

I wanted to do something different with the bow case and quiver so I decided to do them as though they were made from different hides and sewn together to make the respective cases.

    Well done

    Good morning Guy,

I have been a little quiet of late due to work & family committments. Just wanted to let you know that the Mongol looks outstanding. I think the hood and overcoat look realistic. I also the base you have displayed it on (you have thought that base through well my friend).

A job well done ..... Ciao for now

    Guy,

Amazing! The texture of the tanned hide really shows through. To Jay's point, I just returned from NYC for a long weekend and you produce this!
I cannot wait until I can retire and focus on painting. Truly outstanding Guy.

    VERY nice!!!

just out of curiousity (and I suspect I already know the answer :) )... did you texturize the areas to show as hides and then paint or is that strictly paint?

Or will only your hairdresser know for sure?? ;)

Thanks for the look... VERY NICE

Thanks for the kind words Kim and Kevin.

    Kevin ~ I would have to have hair......to need a hairdresser...:D

The texture was done with the dry-brushing technique using semi-dry enamel with a flat edged brush applying in one direction to simulate hair / roughness. This technique works well on horses.
