I've been searching through the websites for a model I saw recently, I'm sure, of a retired gladiator, Astinax, now a lanista,in his office with all his paraphernalia around him. It's from an Osprey book on gladiators, and whoever modelled it did a fantastic job of capturing the feeling of the original illustration. Anyone recall this , as it's driving me nuts ( well, slightly more than usual) ?
Cheers, chaps, and compliments of the Yuletide season to one and all.

I know which one you mean, Alan. If I remember correctly, it was done by an Italian modeler - but I also can't for the life of me recall where I saw it...
But at least you know, that you're not delusional (or in good company  )

P.S.: I think it was presented in one of the show reports from the second half of 2023..

Thank you, Andrew, that's the one ! I didn't realise it was a whole year ago it was posted up. Certainly a marvellous SBS article. I'd love this to be a commercially available piece, but looks like a one-off.

    Cheers,
    Alan

Pretty sure this is the work of the Spanish maestro Pepe Gallardo. At any rate it's on his Facebook, and is very much in his style.

The figure is a conversion of a 75mm figure (by Antonio Zapatero), carried out by Luis Sanz Larrey.
    You'll find the details HERE.

    Cheers,
