Mixing different putties

I have heard a few of you mention mixing different putties and even mixing Sculpey with Epoxy Putty. Which different products have you guys tried together and what are the results? What are the advantages of particular combinations?

Last night, for the first time, I tried mixing duro and A&B together to see what properties I would get. With a 50/50 mixture, it was just about indistinguishable from straight duro with possibly a bit more working time. I plan to experiment more...

    Thanks,
    Barry

I tried something just minor, I mixed some yellow-gray Milliput with White Milliput just to get away from the starkness of the white -the properties didn't change but i had a nice light cream color ^_^

I very often mix Duro with either milliput or magic sculpt. I find it better with MS but have achieved good results with the former too

What are the advantages of mixing Duro & MS? I know you can mix putties but I'm not sure what characteristic you are trying to achieve. Looking forward to learning more.

Mixing Duro with any of the puttys will make it less brittle. Duro's strength is also one of it's downfalls. The fact that it's more elastic when set makes it harder to carve and sand. Mixing the two can make some delicate thin pieces less prone to breakage while retaining the "set" working properties.

Colin, I usually mix Duro with MS when I want to achieve textured areas like hair etc. The mix will retain the elasticity of Duro and the sharpness of MS. The milliput/MS mix is similar but less consistent.
