A few quick pics of my finished 54 mm miles wearing full a knee length lorica hamata and a sort of lorica squamata vest. Cool combination! The shield and lance design are the product of my imagination. I am a bit tired of the standard floral patterns, scorpions and lighting bolts. Can't think of any reason why the Romans pragmatic as they were would not paint their shields like this. Makes unit identification easier I would imagine:D

Pics can be enlarged to screen size for closer inspection. Not artistic pics but sharp blunt ones taken using flash.

I just noticed that some small paint touch up is needed around the right hand and right lower arm. That's what these pics are for: checking if I didn't miss anything.

Mods: please do not turn the pics they are good like this.

Well done and a nice touch making the lance penetrate the shield.

Very nice, Paul. Maybe a bit too clean for a warrior, but nice! I like it a lot!

    Thanks.

Actually it isn't clean at all. The shield for example is very heavily stained all over with sepia. The helmet and the greaves were also stained with spots of sepia.

But because of the light reflection (flash) you can't see that in the pictures.

Great job, armour of such a period is also very difficoult to paint since it is a mix of mail chain , plates, leathers, ecc...
    Warm congrats for the result
