    Hello everyone!

Here is Taesung's sculpt of a 12 SS Panzer Div. machine gunner that I just finished. I venture to say it is based on this photo.

I wanted to base mine in a similar setting and after poking around my stuff I came across a resin slab ( I don't even remember where I got it or when ), that represented a brick wall / cobble stone street. I cut out a chunk and pinned and epoxied it to a walnut base. What do you think?

    Hi Joe!

Maybe, that is interesting for you:

His Name was SS-Schütze Klaus Schuh, member of the III. Btn., Aufklarungskompanie 15, 25th SS-Panzergrenadierregiment, 12. SS-Panzerdivision "Hitleryouth", the picture was taken by SS-Kriegsberichter Woscidlo on June, 9, 1944, northwest Caen.

Klaus Schuh was killed in action a few days later after a failed attack near Cheux (France) on June, 26, 1944.

On the next pic he is to be seen standing in the middle (between his comrades Sepp Bund and Günter Hamel), just awarded with the Iron Cross 2nd class at June, 12, 1944 . Sepp Bund was killed the same day as Schuh, Hamel survived.

    Great work Joe:).
What stands out for me is the way you have painted such neat camo and the fact that you have accounted for the seam lines of the cloth:D.

Howdy Martin, and thanks for your comments and the additional info.

I knew about Schuh and had seen the photo before of him with his comrades. However the photo I saw was not captioned and thus did not know who the were. I'm learning a lot about their unit as currently I'm reading the unit history written by Herbert Meyer. I'm just now getting to the first battle for Caen.

swralph Thanks Ralph! Details stand out better in person. Me and my cell phone just don't do good pics. Perhaps someday!

billyturnip Thanks Roger, I appreciate your comment!

phil_h Howdy Phil and thank you!

    pmfs Gracias Pedro!

Howdy Wayne, and thank you for commenting, I appreciate it!

This is a 1/16 scale Alpine miniature. Taesung is the sculptor, owner, proprietor, and perhaps chief cook and bottle washer of Alpine Miniatures. Check out his website and his extensive line of 1/35th and 1/16 figures. There's my shameless plug!

Great work on your rendition of your 12.SS MG-42 Gunner. We do need a 1/16 Otto Funk to go along side this figure. (y)

Well this morning brought us lower temperatures, cloudy skies and rain. But hey, I'm not complaining, any rain in the desert is a blessing!

I appreciate your comments Kent, thanks!

You know the thought occurred to me as well when I got this figure. In anticipation of an Otto Funk figure I did not glue my gunner onto the base an only pinned him on. I can easily remove him and make a larger base. I also have another chunk of that wall section. Hopefully someone is watching and listening :D!
