Here are some of the pictures I took at the show. I want to arrange them in some kind of oder with BOS and the new Grand Master's pics first but the msn program only shows a graphic along for the picture making it difficult to arrange them.~Gary

    Gary,
Was great seeing you and meeting your family, too...wish we could've spent more time talking...I really apologize...I learn so much talking with you, and feel like I missed out big time...
A great show indeed and both the BOS and Grand Master were well deserved...a completely humbling show and am really pleased with my award given the level of talent at that show...wow!
    All the best my friend...

    Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to say that I too had a Great time at the show and enjoyed meeting the few PF that I did. I was sorry to not get a chance to meet the others. I also would like to add that Jason's work was so much better in the round and that he is really a very nice guy. I tip my hat to you. I also had the chance to speak with Mike Blank and Bill Horan at some length and I am ready to jump into the saddle again! There were so many Great displays that I would hate to not mention them all but I think many of the pictures will speak for them. I had the pleasure to see Gary's work in person and the pictures do not do it justice. Gary is a very talented man. Gary and I had a nice chat with Ian ;) and I will now have to start bugging Gary again! Another person I would like to mention is Steven Brown. I think he has made such a big jump in his painting. His display was very nice. Here are a few pictures on my site http://groups.msn.com/JoesFigureSite/shoebox.msnw I have many more and will try to post them later.

Just a note, Bill Horan was telling me that it is very important to make your reservation to World Expo if you are planning on attending. If you decide that you can't make it you can still cancel but if you want a room you need to make them as soon as possible. He also said that by knowing how many are attending they can get a larger banquet room for the award dinner.

Thanks for the pictures Joe. I enjoy seeing pics of my former "home show" and look forward to more when you get a chance to post them.

Joe, thanks for the kind words, and thanks to you and the others for sharing your photos, too.

Another great modeler who no one's mentioned yet is Pete Dawson. He's hasn't been actively painting figures these last few years (he somehow got sucked into the model railroading scene!), but he made a spectacular return at MFCA with this Tamiya 120mm German infantryman. I'm pretty sure he won a gold with it. Pete has always been one of the "cleanest" modelers and painters in the hobby. Every color is exactly where it should be.

He is and always will be one of the best.

He won't admit that he's "back" though. Told me that was a Tamiya figure and not really a miniature figure.

Gary, once again, thanks for posting. On a side note, take a look at Bill Horan's "Caught off 3rd" vignette. My friend, his wife, and I were admiring this piece, and she asked "Did he paint in the shadows underneath the ball players? It really looks like a sunny day at the ball park!"
Well, of course, we pish poshed her question, how silly a question! And, then again, once she was looking elsewhere, we had to confirm for ourselves that he did not(he didn't, just took great advantage of the available lighting. We both agreed, and very good choice for placement can make or break a display. Obviously, Mr Horan has been through this before, as proven by his work, and his insight.

    Steven and Lou,

Pete was one of the figure painters that I used to love and go see his work. He did so many great figures and then took a break? :) I have added another picture and it is a close up and shows off his attention to detail. I hope he is back for good now!

Boy, you guys weren't kidding. That's got to be the best painted WWII German I've ever seen. I can't wait to see more of Pete's work.

    Petey,
It was freakin amazing brother...every detail was simply awesome and if you took a step back, to me, he looked uterly real. It was the same effect Lou had with his bust...it's just spectacular. Pete had even laid in highlights and shading to the Russian Campaign ribon in the lapel...wicked!

    All the best my friend

    patrick
